Learn how an extraordinary chicken named Eleanor brings awareness to the harmful results of bullying, the value of kindness, and the appreciation of those having different abilities. This beautiful chicken enters the school classrooms as a model for uniqueness and becomes the most celebrated chicken in town.

After other chickens on the farm began to bully and peck on Eleanor, she is left unable to walk like the other chickens. She is removed from the flock to protect her from further harm. When Mrs. Henley returns to school, she brings Eleanor with her, where she quickly warms her way into the hearts of the students and teachers.

Helen Dowty, a native Californian, educator, and life-long animal lover, took pen to paper after a chicken named Eleanor waddled her way into her life. Mrs. Dowty has worked in school libraries as a teacher since 1996 and appreciates the value of a good story. She has always been drawn to nature, preserving the environment, and raising awareness of the kind treatment of animals. She is the very proud mother of three loving children and has been happily married to her husband of 30 years. She currently teaches in Los Gatos, California. She loves adventures, nature, camping, and hiking. To date, she has climbed to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park three times.
