I started this book during a Texas assignment as a forensic investigator, where I was an investigator by day and a writer by night. Sitting at my desk in the hotel room late at night, I envisioned the successful conclusion of my assignment. I motivated myself to continue the struggle to recreate what was destroyed. The success of the investigation wasn’t solely dependent upon my knowledge and experience. Willingness to persevere and belief in my abilities were equally important. I thought about the traits that had brought me success in my previous endeavors. I decided to write about these traits. I created an imaginary group of teachers who would write stories espousing these traits. I progressed from writer to author. I hope you enjoy these stories for I believe acquiring these traits have enabled me to become: a) Senior Partner in a National Public Accounting Firm, b) Successful Forensic Investigator and Operational Consultant, and c) Chief Operating Officer for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. I strongly believe that a successful life can be obtained through acquiring knowledge, gaining experience and having a willingness to persevere to reach your goals.
